What Does HERS Mean?

HERS Index (Home Energy Rating System)
The HERS Index is used to measure a home’s energy efficiency. Tests are performed measuring thermal efficiency to calculate a home’s index score. The lower your home’s HERS Index, the more energy efficient it is.

This is my first home to own and I have little experience with making and keeping it energy efficient. I know my house has great potential for saving energy and I am looking forward to following the contestants and learning from their improvements. If I can learn to reduce my energy usage there will be more for others. I am excited about this opportunity!
